In Boston...

The T, Boston's public transportation system, is the best way to access tourist attractions and sights in Cambridge and Boston. All directions are from the Burlington Marriott:

Alewife "T" Station/Red Line
Take a right out of the driveway, then right at the lights and a right onto Rt. 128 (95) South to Rt. 2 East (Cambridge/Arlington).

Stay on Rt. 2 for 5 1/2 miles. Bear right on ramp in front of bowling alley or go to lights and bear right over the bridge and take a right at the next set of lights.


Fireworks on Sunday, July 4, 2004
The Fireworks will take place on the Charles River in Boston at 9:00 PM. Do not drive to Boston to see the fireworks- it will be severely congested. It is better to take the T from Alewife to the Charles/MGH stop.

Harvard Square
Harvard Square, a very popular spot for people watching, is also known for its street musicians performing on weekend nights and Sunday afternoons. Coffee shops, restaurants, and book stores are abundant in this town that caters to 30,000 students.

Public Transportation: Take the T from Alewife to the Harvard Square stop (Red Line).

Driving:
Take a right out of hotel driveway. Take a right onto Cambridge Street (Rt. 3A). Take immediate right onto Rt. 95 (128) South. Get off Rt. 2 East exit. Follow Rt. 2 all the way past Alewife Station to Memorial Drive. Take left onto Memorial Drive, then left onto John F. Kennedy Drive. Follow into Harvard Square.


Downtown Crossing-Filene's, Beacon Hill/State House, Historical Sites, and some of the best shopping in Boston

Public Transportation: Take the T from Alewife to State Street or Downtown Crossing (Red Line).

Driving:
Take a right out of the driveway, then a right at the lights. Go onto Rt. 128 North (95) to Route 93 South. Get off the "Government Center" exit. At end of ramp take a right. (There is a large cement parking garage on your left). Go straight up street to end. Take a left onto Cambridge Street. (Which turns into Tremont Street). Follow Tremont to Boston Common- 3/4 mile on right. At end of Common, take right onto Boylston Street. Follow around Common on Charles St. Parking Garage is on right under Boston Common.


Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall, Durgin Park Restaurant
Fanueil Hall is in the lively core of Boston's historic waterfront, and the nation's premier urban marketplace. Housed in 3 beautifully restored 19th century buildings, its 125 shops and 21 restaurants offer tantalizing delicacies & unique gifts in a festive atmosphere that spills onto cobblestone streets filled with an amazing variety of street performers. It is is bordered by the financial district, the waterfront, the North End, Government Center and Haymarket. It is a well-traveled part of Boston's "Freedom Trail." The Marketplace is a five-minute walk to the New England Aquarium, The Children's Museum, The Old State House, and Paul Revere's House.

Public Transportation: Take the T from Alewife to Faneuil Hall or Haymarket (Red Line).

Driving:
Take a right out of the driveway, then right at the lights and a right onto Rt. 128 (95) North to Rt. 93 South. Get off at the Haymarket Exit. At the end of the ramp, there is a large parking garage.
